Bachelor's degree program

Innovative health care

Advancing the health and social economy

What is it about?

The use of advanced technologies such as smart homes, big data and robotics offers a wide range of opportunities for the healthcare and social services sectors. In order to seize these opportunities, bridge builders are needed between traditional healthcare on the one hand and technology and IT on the other. You can be this bridge builder by bringing together experts from the various fields of healthcare and social services and talking to them at eye level. A highly attractive profile for many employers from clinics to health insurance companies and medical technology providers to consulting firms. The path to self-employment is also open - and promising!

What are the special features?

In our labs, you can try out and experience technology and IT for yourself. We teach IT and technology (e.g. care robots or assistance systems) in such a way that you don't have to be an IT nerd or engineering genius. Because with us, you learn how technologies basically work and where their potential applications lie. We combine this content with the basics of management, medicine, psychology, ethics and pedagogy. You can also choose from three specializations: Applied psychology, social work and social management, and nursing. Your future career fields are as varied as the course content: Whether in clinics, in care facilities, with app developers, with the health insurance company or with robotics manufacturers. Thanks to the regular exchange with cooperation partners and experienced professors, a practice-oriented study is guaranteed.

Why does this degree program exist at LCC?

Demographic change and the shortage of doctors and nursing staff already pose major challenges for rural regions. In the future, metropolitan regions will also increasingly face the question of how to ensure a high-quality quality of life and care across all age groups. These challenges are offset by the opportunities offered by innovative technologies: New job profiles will become necessary, for which your studies will prepare you perfectly. For this purpose, you will already work during your studies with strong partners such as the Helios Clinic or the BRK together on the healthcare of tomorrow. The Digital Health Village in the upper Rodach Valley (Kronach district) - one of five pilot regions in Bavaria - shows what this can look like. Here, technologies for a self-determined life at home have already been tested since 2019.

Is this the right course of study for me?

Would you like to contribute with your work to ensuring that the quality of life of all people - whether healthy or ill, young or old, living in the city or in the country - is sustainably high? Would you like to contribute today to ensuring that high-quality healthcare can still be provided for everyone tomorrow?

If you like to break new ground and get to know the possible applications of technology and IT in health and social care, our Innovative Health Care degree program is made for you and your future.
