Four Years of FabLab Kronach: A Place for Ideas and Community
Four years of FabLab Kronach—that called for a celebration! For the anniversary, the workshop was decorated and adorned with old Polaroid photos. Laid out on the tables, they invited everyone to reminisce and look back on the past years. Several long-time companions were also in attendance. Some have been using and helping to shape the FabLab since its very beginnings. They contribute their own ideas, share their knowledge, and shape the workshop through their dedication. The anniversary provided a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate the time we’ve spent together.
From 3D Printing to the Woodshop
FabLab Kronach is an open workshop for anyone who enjoys tinkering, designing, and bringing their own ideas to life. Here, a variety of options are available for getting creative and trying out new things. With the 3D printer, you can turn your own designs into tangible objects. The laser cutter enables precise cuts and engravings, while the woodshop provides space for hands-on craft projects.
But the FabLab is more than just a collection of machines and tools: Through workshops and collaborative project evenings, interested participants can learn new techniques, share experiences, and learn from one another. Activities such as the Repair Café, group drawing sessions, or woodworking demonstrate just how diverse the offerings in the open workshop are. Everyone is welcome—from those just starting out to experienced tinkerers.
Shaping the Open Workshop Together
Behind the workshop is the Offene Werkstatt Kronach e. V. association. It sees itself as a cultural, inventive, and creative meeting place for the entire district. The workshop is run by volunteers and thrives on people getting involved, bringing their own ideas to life, and developing new projects together.
Meanwhile, four communities also meet regularly at the FabLab: the art community, the 3D printing community, the woodworking community, the “Kronach Leuchtet” community, and the gaming community. They bring together diverse interests and create space for exchange, new ideas, and collaborative projects.
The fourth anniversary shows just how much can be achieved through the commitment of local people. What began as an open workshop has become a gathering place where creativity, technology, and community come together. And the next ideas are surely already waiting to be brought to life.
