Get to know Kronach and start the semester together
What’s the best way to get to know a new college town? With a walking tour of the city, a visit to Rosenberg Fortress, and an evening spent with fellow students. To kick off the winter semester, the Lucas Cranach Campus offered first-year students the opportunity to discover Kronach and its history. International students, in particular, took advantage of the guided tour of the city and the fortress. In the evening, students from various degree programs gathered at Café Kitsch for the semester kickoff.
Discovering the City’s History and Rosenberg Fortress
Even the rainy weather didn’t stop the nearly 20 students from setting out on a walk through Kronach. Starting on Güterstraße, the route led past the Old Town Hall, to the fountain in the Upper Town, and to the old city tower. Along the way, participants learned more about the city’s history and its historic buildings.
A highlight of the program was the guided tour of Rosenberg Fortress. From the fortress walls, they enjoyed a view over the rooftops of Kronach, and during the tour, the students gained a deeper understanding of the complex. The narrow fortress cellars, in particular, left a lasting impression.
Afterward, the group headed to the Turnerheim. There, the Kronach Gymnastics Club presented its sports programs and showed students the opportunities available to stay active and make new friends alongside their studies.
Barbecue, karaoke, and new connections at the start of the semester
That evening, all students were invited to Café Kitsch for a joint kickoff event to mark the start of the semester. Staff from the universities and representatives of the Lucas Cranach Campus Foundation had organized a barbecue, with the focus on getting to know one another and socializing. Everyone also sang together during karaoke.
There was also a welcome gift: Tobias Bocklet, academic director of the LCC, presented first-semester students with laptop backpacks featuring the LCC logo.
With these insights into Kronach’s history and the evening spent together, the students began the winter semester with new impressions and their first connections.
